
Ingredients
- 500 g Pork Belly
- 1/4 cup Cooking Sake
- 1/4 cup raw sugar
- 3-5 pcs Sichuan Peppers
- Black Peppercorns
- 2-3 pcs star anise
- 1 Cinnamon Stick
- Salt & Pepper (to taste)
- 1 cup water
Method
- In a pot or casserole, add the water, cooking sake, raw sugar, Sichuan peppers, star anise and cinnamon stick. Mix them all together.
- Arrange the pork belly inside the pot and turn the stove in medium heat. Allow it to simmer for 30-45 minutes and check from time to time.
- When the liquid reduces its volume, check the pork belly. Once done turn it off and let it rest. If it needs more time, just add a bit of water and let it simmer again.
- Steamed rice is the default partner of this dish, so if you put them together in a bowl-- then they are definitely one bowl wonder!
