Ingredients
- Sushi rice (Once cup will make two rolls)
- Sausages (beef or pork) - one per person
- Nori sheets - one per sausage
- Obento Sushi Seasoning
- Sushi Soy Dipping Sauce
- Pickled Ginger
Method
- Cook the rice in a rice cooker (this reduces the time involved to prepare)
- When the rice cooked, spread out on a tray and mix with the sushi seasoning in the ratio recommended on the bottle. Place the tray in the refrigerator to cool.
- While the rice is cooling, pan fry the sausages. (I prefer garlic beef but any other flavour of sausage can be used , dependend upon your family's taste.)
- When the rice has cooled, spread a layer of rice over a sheet of nori, making sure to leave an uncovered strip at one end of the sheet. Caution: the rice will be very sticky, so wet the tips of your fingers to prevent the rice from sticking to your hands.
- Lay a sausage on the rice on the opposite side to the bare edge, and roll using a sushi roilling mat. The bare edge is then be used to seal the roll and prevent it unrolling. A light dab with a damp finger will help here. Before rolling, you could add a thin smear of wasabi, or even something a little untraditional like Mrs. H.S. Ball's hot chutney for a bit of zing.
- Cut into slices and arrange elegantly on a platter. Serve immediately, with sushi soy dipping sauce and sliced pickled ginger
- Enjoy!
