
Ingredients
- 1 block of firm Tofu
- 1 cup Panko Breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup Flour
- 1/2 tbsp + 1 tsp Cornstarch
- Pre made Tonkatsu Sauce
- 1 cup uncooked Rice
- Kewpie Mayonnaise
- 1/2 tsp of Salt
- 1/4 cup Water
- Oil for frying
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
Method
- Press water out of tofu between some sheets of paper towels by letting a heavy object rest on tofu for 20-30mins.
- Slice tofu block through the middle lengthways.
- Create a batter for the tofu by mixing together the flour, cornstarch, salt, baking powder and water.
- Coat tofu in batter then pour breadcrumbs onto a plate and coat tofu in breadcrumbs until well coated.
- Prepare rice as per packet instructions.
- Heat up frying pan with enough oil for a shallow fry.
- Place crumbed Tofu slices into hot oil and cook until golden on both sides.
- Place cooked rice on plate and slice Tofu diagonally into strips and lay on top of rice.
- Drizzle with Tonkatsu sauce and Kewpie mayonnaise. Enjoy!
